Job Title: Psychologist

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Assistant Director for Rehabilitation and Reintegration, you will provide assessment and treatment services for prisoners to identify and address the factors that led to their offending. This role will work alongside Intern Psychologists, Psychologists, Senior Psychologists, and a team of Programme Facilitators. In this role you will be working as part of a passionate and committed team to provide a comprehensive suite of services to meet the needs of prisoners. This role will

provide consultation and information regarding defendable decision-making to the

wider team, consisting of case managers, custodial staff, management, Ara Poutama

Aotearoa, courts, probation, and the New Zealand Parole Board. You must be... registered with NZ Board of Psychologists as a Psychologist (General, Clinical or Counselling), and hold a current practicing certificate.

About you

You will be a new, or an experienced registered psychologist, with a passion to work

with people within the forensic and health context. While experience in interventions,

risk assessment, and report writing may be advantageous, you are trainable and

committed to your ongoing professional competence development. You are eager to

acquire competence in cognitive behavioural approaches, psychometric assessments,

forensic reports writing, and reducing criminogenic risk. You will assimilate applied

knowledge about “What Works”, Risk Needs Responsivity Model, Good Lives Model, and research-based practice. You will have an excellence orientation to your work, you can work independently, and integrate well within a team. You respect people, cultural differences, and value diversity.

How we’ll support you:
• Salary range: $81,000 - $93,453.
• Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) cover
• Regular clinical supervision.
• Ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Trainings to increase knowledge and competency in risk assessments and evidence-based criminogenic treatment.
• Flexible working conditions (Work from home days).

About Auckland South Correctional Facility

Serco opened Kohuora ASCF in Wiri, South Auckland in 2015, extending its portfolio in Asia Pacific. It is a state of the art facility, operated on behalf of the NZ Department of Corrections. We provide a safe and secure environment for over 900 male prisoners, with a strategic focus on rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners.
