What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Finance Manager - NZ Corporate, we are looking for a Management Accountant within our Corporate based finance team based in Christchurch to assist with the day-to-day accounting and reporting functions of the business. This is a perfect opportunity to grow your... career with us. The key tasks of the role include the following:
• Preparing monthly accounts and P&L reviews for various regions and departments
• Undertaking department/job loss making reviews
• Providing department variance and margin analysis
• Own department monthly profit forecasting
• Maintain accuracy of job costing. Check and process recodes where necessary, ensuring that journal descriptions give accurate details for cost review processes
• Prepare Financial Reporting and other ad hoc reports as required in a clear and timely manner, including financial statements, reconciliations and investigation, forecasts and other comparative reporting requirements
• Review corporate regions monthly tax accounts
• Review balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensuring the corporate team's administrative needs are met
• Preparing Annual budgets alongside Managers
• Involvement in the Year End process
• Providing relevant data analysis and interpretation to Managers
• To promote and improve accounting, financial and administrative efficiencies
• Proactively deliver training to management on all management reports and business tools
• Special projects and assignments as directed by management

What you'll bring to the table

You will be able to exercise your analysis and process improvement skills and be able to apply concepts and procedures that can lead to effective improvements in business procedures and quality. You will be ambitious, driven, and ready to take on a new challenge. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
• An appropriate tertiary qualification, and holding your CA/CPA or working towards is favourable
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an accountancy role
• Exposure to JDE is an advantage, but not essential
• Ability to analyse business needs and to recommend opportunities for process improvement
• Ability to learn new systems, software and procedures quickly and thoroughly
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced level Word, Excel and computing skills
• Ability to work autonomously while handling multiple task with changing priorities and deadlines
• High numerical competence and organisational skills
• High level of written and verbal communication skills
