NEXT Hong Kong Team Head - Commercial Banking

Description: Our clients are thousands of mid-size corporations that need Treasury Management, FX and other commercial banking products. They leverage our globality, network and world class products and services to support the growth of their businesses

We are looking for a talent to lead the expansion of our Commercial Bank NEXT business in HONG KONG. NEXT is a coverage model that leverages data and technology to engage our clients in new and efficient ways as well as optimize our local CCB portfolios by ensuring non-profitable relationships with no growth potential are orderly exited.

The NEXT Team Head will be responsible for managing a team of CCB NEXT Relationship Managers / Associates (currently 10 headcount), being accountable for growing the business, managing the optimization portfolio, improving client satisfaction and supporting an impeccable control environment. They should be a curious, organized, driven, result oriented... professional looking for the opportunity to be part of an exciting new coverage model and build a new way of doing business.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the expansion of CCB NEXT in HONG KONG ensuring that the appropriate portfolio is transferred and managed by the NEXT team with balanced account loading across the team

• Partner with the country, segment & regional leaders to optimize the model for the overall CCB growth and portfolio optimization (POG)

• Be a voice for NEXT in their market, representing the business in senior reviews, promoting the business in any forums required

• Partner with the support teams and key stakeholders (IBC, Products, IR, etc) as well as other NEXT Team Heads in APAC to share best practices and build solutions that will enable a better client experience and business growth

• Create and ensue the adoption of all critical metrics/KPIs required to build a successful digitally enabled business

• Drive utilization of Compass/Tableau, adoption of NEXT Best Practices and pristine data environment (esp. client tagging)

• Apply critical focus on conversion of Active clients. Control / remediate attrition / inactive clients

• Responsible for the in HONG KONG CCB NEXT P&L, identifying and executing strategies that will support and grow the business

• Lead the roll out of CCB NEXT Initiatives (eg. Trainings, Tools, etc)

• Work with the local leadership teams to attract, develop, recognize and retain talent. Strong focus on people onboarding and ongoing training for the team.

• Ensure that all activities are carried out to the highest ethical standard and that all the regulatory and control requirements are met 100% of the time.

• Be able to balance multiple priorities, ensuring that the business continues to run smoothly while all the key projects and operational and control needs are moving according to plan

• Enable a world class client experience for CCB NEXT clients in HONG KONG

• Own and drive regular pipeline and business reviews. Escalation of CCB NEXT client issues.

• Manage transfers in and out of NEXT for HONG KONG and ensure clients with opportunities beyond NEXT are flagged and referred to EC/MC.

• Member of the regional CCB NEXT leadership team, involved on the roll out of regional and global CCB NEXT initiatives. Member of the HONG KONG leadership team, playing an active role in increasing the visibility and contribution of NEXT to CCB and Citi in HONG KONG

Qualifications

• MBA, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related Business Management tertiary qualifications

• Strong performance as a Commercial, Corporate or Transaction Banker with minimum of 8 years’ experience in customer Relationship Management.

• Experience in managing a team and business with P&L responsibilities preferred

• CO qualification (for internal candidates) – Strong credit background and strong knowledge of the Citi risk process/ culture.

• Market knowledge and external network will be an asset

Skills

• Demonstrates thought leadership. Ability to create longer term and advisory based relationships with relevant stakeholders i.e Clients / Credit / Risk etc.

• Good financial analysis skills and credit maturity

• Excellent market knowledge and connections that would facilitate identification and evaluation of deals / decisions

• Strong Analytical, Product, and Risk Assessment Skills.

• Knowledge of banking regulations, processes, policies and systems

• Ability to select appropriate communication channel for delivery of the message when addressing diverse audiences i.e. Products / TTS / FX / Risk / Credit

• People Management/ Leadership Skills: Instill trust in subordinates and allow them to learn and grow; seeks opportunities for staff within the organization to be visible and gain recognition

• Ability to question existing practices, conceptualize change, align people towards the end goal.

• Be bold, drive innovation on our way of doing relationship management within the Commercial Bank space by using digitization, automation and other new technologies and processes

• Process oriented mind. Someone that drives success by understanding, implementing and continuously improving the sales process
