About the vacancy:
The School of Social Sciences at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol is seeking to appoint permanent 0.8FTE Counselling and Psychotherapy Senior Lecturer who will also assume Programme Leader role for MA Counselling and Psychotherapy programme (accredited by BACP).
The successful applicants will be a Counsellor or Psychotherapist with recent practice experience, registered/accredited with appropriate professional statutory or regulatory body, and will be expected to make a contribution to teaching provision, with a commitment to innovative and high-quality teaching, alongside their programme leadership duties.
The post is based with the Counselling and Psychotherapy team within the interdisciplinary Department of Social Sciences within a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate psychology... programmes accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and other professional bodies (HCPC). We are focussed on the delivery of high-quality teaching with a strong emphasis on the application of academic understanding to real-world contexts with impact.
The School has a vibrant research culture, organised around several University Centres of Excellence, and where the School hosts Psychological Sciences Research Group.

We collaborate closely with employers and stakeholders to ensure that our curricula remain current, topical, and relevant to societal needs.
About you
The successful applicants will join a team who contribute to the Certificate in Counselling Skills and the MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes. These programmes adopt an Integrative Relational Approach (integrating Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Gestalt modalities) which is consistent with working in ways that empower clients and also demonstrate the high standards of anti-discriminatory practice appropriate to the pluralistic nature of society today.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer with practice experience, who will lead the MA Counselling and Psychotherapy programme, provide clinical and research supervision and contribute to teaching and learning, which provide highly regarded professional training, which have impact in the immediate locality and beyond.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested in new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
Frenchay campus has excellent transport links; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations, our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.
