SENIOR WRITER - MEDIA, PUBLICATIONS AND CONTENT

As a member of the Marketing and Communications Department, the Senior Writer – Media, Publications and Content will support mecwacare’s positive image in the Victorian community and actively participate in the development and implementation of its Marketing and Communications Strategy. This role is primarily responsible for writing creative and engaging internal and external communications, as well as grant and awards submissions on behalf of the organisation.

Responsibilities include media relations, preparing grant and award submissions, writing social and digital media content, and general marketing/event management activities.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building strong working relationships with key stakeholders (including trusts and foundations) and... colleagues. They will have an eye for a good story, as well as the ability to bring that story to life in a way that resonates with the community and potential donors. Journalists are encouraged to apply.

What you bring:

Demonstrated experience in researching and preparing content for various marketing and communication materials, including (but not limited to) annual reports, website, speeches, internal and external newsletters, brochures, posters, advertising and social media channels Experience in the preparation of submissions for grants and awards, and follow up of all successful applications with an acquittal in accordance with the terms of the contract Ability to actively seek out grant and award opportunities, and prepare well researched submissions, according to the criteria, developing, implementing and evaluating annual grants and awards programs Track record in assisting with the planning, development and implementation of the Marketing and Communications Strategy (including fundraising) for mecwacare Ability to liaise with all relevant stakeholders to ensure targeted and effective formal and informal communications, including developing internal communications Demonstrated experience in maintaining a proactive media strategy with assistance from the General Manager, Marketing, Communications and Fundraising, including identifying newsworthy stories, writing and distributing media releases, developing and pitching positive story ideas Ability to provide reactive media assistance, including developing key messages, when required Ability to apply mecwacare’s social media channels to engage audiences and drive measurable improvement in perception, brand awareness and consideration
