The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking an Biomedical Engineering Technician 3 to join the department of Building Services. The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.

This position serves as a lead technician for the Building Services team for the College of Dentistry (CoD) and reports to the Director of Building Services. This position is responsible for the overall maintenance, repairs and activities for the CoD; performs complex building system and maintenance repairs and performs routine repairs whenever necessary; coordinates and inspects all subordinate repair technicians work and monitors and assigns workload of dental related equipment and building systems repairs. Inspects and monitors work performance and progress for accuracy and completeness; assists in employee training and development; assists Director in planning and implementing all building operations; dental related maintenance and building equipment maintenance programs; serves as backup for the department in absence of the Director. Assists with work in the building services offices such as answering phones and monitoring and assigning daily repair requests; performs special projects and supports divisions/departments of the college and may serve on committees related to role.

7:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday; subject to flexibility on hours as needed; may need to work occasional evening and weekends; subject to 24/7 emergency call-in.

Subject to working conditions as dirt; chemical fumes and exposure; electrical hazard and shock; may be exposed to dangerous power equipment, may work at heights up to 30 ft. about ground level; working with power equipment in machine & wood shop; frequently lift moderate to heavy objects (50+); drive state vehicle.

Required: 2 years' experience in complex building system and maintenance.

Desired: 4 - 6 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, commercial real estate, or healthcare facility; experience in all trades; supervisor or lead experience of planning and scheduling work, experience with computerized work order system, ability to research a problem and offer a solutions; experience with MS Office, excellent customer service skills and team orientated.

Additional Information:

By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $25.87 to $34.47, commensurate on experience and education.
