Optimisation Emissions

Optimize the control of emissions for a biomass-fired plant by executing tests and measurements on-site at one of the biomass-fired heat and power plants of HoSt in the Netherlands.

Your tasks:
• Familiarize yourself with the design of the combustion system of a biomass fired plant and study theoretical backgrounds;
• Study the presently used emission control methods and available measured data;
• Testing a new emission reduction system in an existing plant and performing measurements on-site;
• Advise an optimal emission control method based on actual results of executed measurements.

Characterisation of Fuels

For the combustion plants of HoSt a variety of fuels can be applied. A structured method to characterize a fuel shall be... developed. Practical testing is an important part of this assignment. Focus is on plastic-containing fuels.

Your tasks:

Familiarize yourself with all components of a Biomass Plant;
• Study and analyze fuel types and develop a dedicated test plan;
• Execute tests with several fuel types;
• Improve the test method based on gained experience.
