Summary

The Information Technology Lead‘s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct, and design Information Systems/IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the Information Systems/IT department. The IT Lead will work closely with the Director of Information Systems & Technology, along with other key decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This person will assist in defining and implementing Information Systems/IT policies, procedures, and best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations & Planning

· Lead IT operationally, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of... resources.

Acquisition & Deployment

· Benchmark, analyze report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and Information systems.

· Manage financial aspects of the IT, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.

· Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.

· Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.

· Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.

Cyber Security

· Provide security analysis and monitoring of the technology infrastructure consisting of WAN, LAN and Wi-Fi networks, physical and virtual servers, applications, workstations, mobile devices, Anti-virus, Anti-spam systems, encryption software, file systems and databases

· Researches and implements security best practices based on government and industry regulations and best practices

· Installs security measures and operates software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam, Multi-facture authentication, data encryption and other security related programs

· Researches and evaluates new and enhanced security systems, protocols and policies and recommend accordingly

· Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.

· Monitors and investigates security concerns, breaches and other cyber security incidents

Operational Management

· Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.

· Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.

· Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.

· Direct research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts.

· Keep current with the latest technologies.

· Approve and oversee projects and project portfolio.

· Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

· Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

· University or College degree in the field of computer science/technology and/or 3+ years related work experience. Master of Business Administration with technology as a core component preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

· Strong technical knowledge of Network and PC operating systems.

· Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.

· Strong technical knowledge of Virtualized network environments (VMWare) with SAN solutions.

· Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory, roles, and policies

· Extensive knowledge/experience setting and applying best practices around Cyber Security

· Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office [Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint], Linux and ERP Applications.

· Extensive knowledge and working experience with SQL databases, and Business Intelligent tools such as Cognos, Power BI and Crystal Reports.

· Extensive knowledge/working experience with EDI.

· Working Experience with Full Asset Lifecycle applications, including Asset Management, Patch Management, IT Contract Management

· Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.

· Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.

· In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

· Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.

· Strong understanding of project management principles.

· Bilingual English/French preferred.
