JOB PURPOSE:

To perform the full accounting functions of preparing & reviewing the legal entities’ books in the assigned countries within the Rest of Asia Region (ROA), and ensure the financial statements are prepared in accordance with the local country’s statutory accounting standards and internal corporate requirement.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Be fully responsible for the monthly and year end closing of the financial books and timely submission of reports for the legal entities under his/her responsibility. Ensure all tax filings and financial reporting and documentation are in accordance with local regulatory requirement. Responsible to obtain clearance of any external audits, including statutory audit, if applicable.

JOB CONTENT (PRIMARY & SECONDARY FUNCTIONS):

For legal entities outside of Singapore within ROA

Primary

1. On a monthly basis, perform the following activities relative to closing the books for the period:
• Audit the supporting documentation as provided by... the accounting firms or local offices to ensure all expenditures are in accordance with Company policy.
• Receive from the accounting firms or local offices a summary of cash disbursements along with copies of the supporting documentation. Based on this information, create journal entries in the corresponding Oracle set of books to record the activity.
• Receive from the HR Department a summary of payroll disbursements along with copies of the supporting documentation. Based on this information, create journal entries in the corresponding Oracle set of books to record the activity.
• Create journal entries in the corresponding Oracle set of books to record any related activities, e.g., accrual, tax provision, etc.
• Run and review the appropriate financial statements for accuracy and make any adjustments where necessary.
• Perform reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and any P&L accounts as required after month end closing.
• Reconcile Interco balances that may exist between the company and any other Future affiliates. To provide to the accounting firms or local offices a summary of all inter-company charges emanating from the Singapore or a related affiliate, and ensure that the accounting firms or local offices adjust their records properly.
• Where documentation is required to support inter-company transactions, ensure that such documentation is prepared in accordance with Company policy, with copies forwarded to the accounting firms or local offices when necessary.
• Provide the local accounting firms or local offices, all reports, reconciliation and supporting documents after month end close for the preparation of the statutory reports. After all transactions have been accounted for within Oracle and by the accounting firms, reconcile the general ledgers and perform any necessary adjustments.

2. To assist in directing, coordinate, and monitor the work of the local accountant/accounts administrator as assigned.

3. Monitor the cash balances in the local accounts to ensure adequate funds are available to cover the necessary disbursements. Where additional funds may be required in excess of those providing through the buy/sell or commission structures, arrange for the appropriate borrowings through the holding company.

4. Review and reconcile all GST/VAT returns to the supporting documentation as provided by the accounting firms or local offices.

5. Develop and maintain a schedule of all tax filings and work with the accounting firms or local offices to ensure all returns are filed accurately and on a timely basis.

6. Co-ordinate year-end external audit.

7. To assist in analyze and preparation of regional management reports for Corporate office and local managements.

Secondary

8. Develop and maintain working relationships with the local accounting firms and the local offices.

9. Provide in writing to the accounting firms the expectation of the services they will provide for the Company, using standards as determined by the head office.

10. Monitor the services provided by the accounting firms to ensure that all agreed upon procedures are adhered to.

11. Perform regular audits of the country’s financial records and operational procedures to ensure company guidelines are adhered to.

12. Act as reviewer and expert on accounting requirements for the respective countries.

13. Any ac-hoc matters/projects requested by the management or corporate office.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
• Minimum Diploma/Degree Holder with Finance/ Accountancy.
• At least three (5) years of relevant experience in an accounting role with a multinational company, with exposure to foreign currency transactions.
• Solid accounting skills.
• Knowledge of financial software applications, Excel spreadsheet, Access and/or work processing.
• Ability to produce accurate work of value and committed to maintaining standards.
• Willingness to take on new responsibilities/acquire new skills and improve on old ones.
• Ability to set work priorities, time management skills.
• Well-organized individual that can take control of multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
• Ability and knowledge to work cohesively with areas other than finance.
• Actively seeks to increase effectiveness, generates new ideas and solutions in performance of the job.
