The Court and Probation Officer is an Animal Control Officer III, the third level in the Animal Control series. This position will be responsible for responding to calls for service and communicating with the Court and Probation Offices.

Essential Duties
• Filling out forms (probation inspection, restitution, owner surrender, medical release, and recommendations)
• Preparing court cases in a timely and efficient manner
• Approving citations and confirming they are properly placed on a docket and entered by the officer into Shelter Buddy
• Performing probation inspections, documenting new violations, and reporting to probation
• Issuing citations, attending court when needed
• Keeping a neat and organized filling system
Other Job Requirements/Information
• This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
• This job requires rotating shifts, including weekend/holiday rotation, and 'on-call' status.
Grade

The grade for this position is B23(3).

Minimum Qualifications
• High School diploma or GED
• 3 years of animal control enforcement experience
• or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
• Valid driver's license
• Current rabies titer
• Sworn in
• TNR training (community cat program)
• Road operations training
• Fuel site training
• NACA ACO II certification

• Asp baton
• Basic chemical capture
• Defensive driving
• Crematory
• Rabies
• Neglect
Licensing and Knowledge Requirements
• Knowledge of applicable state, federal and county laws and ordinances.
• Knowledge of Gwinnett County Standard Operation Procedure.
