Job Information
The Complaints and Regulatory Affairs Officer (CO) is responsible for ensuring public safety in the provision of health and social services, by assisting the Department of Health and Social Services’ (DHSS) Registrar... Professional Licensing (Registrar) in the administration of the governing legislation that provides for the regulatory framework for regulated health and social services professionals in the Northwest Territories (NWT).
You will be responsible for ensuring that the public is safeguarded in the provision of health and social services by creating a mechanism for any person to make a complaint regarding unprofessional conduct by a regulated professional. You will be the point of contact for complaints made against regulated professionals in the NWT, you will be responsible for managing, responding, and resolving these complaints. As the CO you will play an essential role in establishing and maintaining complainant files, tracking complaints and reporting on complaints as requested by the Registrar, Senior Management, and the Minister. As a result you will have a significant impact on the NWT Health Care System
You will also be responsible for regulatory affairs, which directly supports the work and recommendations made by the Registrar to Senior Management and the Minister of Health and Social Services regarding changes to the way the GNWT regulates health and social services professionals. You will be responsible for conducting extensive research, making recommendations based on research findings national best practice, and consensus initiatives, bringing regulatory items for discussion to advisory committees’ attention, drafting key regulatory instruments specific to each regulated profession (as a result of stakeholder discussion or National initiatives), and assisting the Registrar with the implementation of National Regulatory board initiatives in the NWT.
To be successful in this role you will typically need:
A Degree in the Social Sciences (or related field) and five (5) years’ progressive experience in project management, regulation (development and/or compliance), or mediation.
Mediation experience considered an asset.
Being a member of a regulated profession considered an asset.
