Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Engineering)

The Principal Engineer (electrical) is the high-level technical interface for Ampcontrol’s Capital & Energy Team and to the rest of the business as required.

As a technical expert you will be responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, defining the product concept and working closely with operations, engineering, corporate sales and marketing to ensure revenue and customer expectations relating to quality, delivery and costs are achieved.

The Principal Engineer is integral in supporting the Ampcontrol strategies relating to growth, product development and innovation and customer satisfaction.

The role liaises closely with the Capital & Energy Business Managers to maintain and enhance customer relationships and provide high level technical guidance with projects.

The role guides the... business to ensure the following Technology Developments:

- Identification of process improvement opportunities
- Increasing the profitability of existing products, and
- Developing new products.

The role will develop and coordinate customer relationships from a technical perspective to give Ampcontrol a lead-in advantage on contract packaging, specifications, innovative solutions and provide high level engineering from tender to contract award and the project implementation stage.

Sales and Tendering will from time-to-time require advice, this will be conducted by interfacing with the operations, engineering, and production teams to ensure assistance with contract delivery, budgetary and operational targets and objectives are achieved.

In addition to being a technical expert the Principal Engineer is also responsible for providing technical Advice to Ampcontrol Customers, providing professional advice to enable development of new market opportunities in line with business objectives, undertake continual review of projects and update business plans as required and attend and present at seminars on white papers etc.

In addition, this role will also contribute to the business development planning process by identifying viable opportunities that have been evaluated for profitability and manufacturing capability.

ABOUT YOU:

Your willingness to be hands-on and thrive in a specialised and changing environment will be complemented by the following:

- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
- Extensive experience in the design and manufacture of Electrical equipment
- CP Electrical Engineering
- RPEQ Electrical Engineering
- Competent in the Microsoft Office applications
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions
- Strong attention to detail
- Team oriented
- Formal qualifications in business management / contract management
- Electrical Trade certificate
