I Am Hope and Gumboot Friday are the public face of the Trust, best known for Mike King’s tireless advocacy for the mental health of New Zealand’s tamariki.

Build People is immensely proud to present an exceptional opportunity for a talented and dedicated Events Manager to join this truly incredible organisation, in a newly created key role.
About the role:
The Events Manager will be responsible for leading and driving a national events programme – developing, promoting and delivering a range of events that maximise fundraising, drive supporter engagement and continue to... raise the profile of I Am Hope and Gumboot Friday.
Our successful candidate will work closely with the CEO of I Am Hope Troy Elliott, key Trust stakeholders, and of course Mike King himself.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop strategy for national events to drive engagement with supporters – including corporate and SME businesses, as well as the New Zealand public.
Nurture key relationships with trustees, sponsors, donors, supporters and suppliers Create and follow project plans and budgets for each event, to include detailed event delivery schedules and comprehensive risk assessments.
Prepare and manage budgets, reporting to the CEO – supplier negotiation, advising on event feasibility, ROI and marketing opportunities Drive volunteer recruitment programmes to support the safe delivery of all events Work collaboratively with the internal team to align activities with fundraising goals Lead exploring new opportunities to grow and enhance the events programme Manage, develop and motivate one direct report Operate in compliance with relevant legislation, best practice and Work Safe regulations About you:
You are a dynamic, experienced Events Manager with a genuine passion for improving the lives of others You are a ‘roll up your sleeves’ type of person – you are always hands on with your events and are able to commit to travelling throughout the country alongside Mike King and other I Am Hope and Trust stakeholders You have a strong and engaging personality - able to work with, and make your voice heard, around incredibly passionate people You are an exceptional networker with a roll call of influential contacts in New Zealand You have strong attention to detail, proven event financial management skills and can deliver board level reporting.
Experience in the hands-on recruitment and engaging of event volunteers is essential Benefits:
