The Salvation Army offers the opportunity to use your professional skills and expertise to make a real difference in the lives of people who need help most.The Salvation Army Bridgehaven is an Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Residential Rehabilitation Program for Women and Women with accompanying children located in Preston.We have exciting opportunities for values-driven and proactive Casual AOD Support Workers to provide supervision, support, and crisis intervention to women and children participants at Bridgehaven and... to help maintain the functioning of the centre. We have multiple casual positions available. The position will require you to work across a number of shifts, including day shift, afternoon shift and sleepover shifts.You will successfullyProtect the safety and wellbeing of all participants by monitoring and managing the dynamics of participants to provide a safe and positive environment for all.Ensure new participants are inducted into the Bridgehaven program, ensuring a positive and engaging first experience with the program.Respond to all resident enquiriesActively participates in daily handovers and liaises with other staff as necessary to ensure required participant information is communicated.Ensure participant and staff security by responding to critical incidents and security concerns, as per policy and procedure.Ensure all electronic records are maintained and up to dateProvide “hands on” practical support to participants to enhance living skillsManage participants behaviour in line with the program policiesAssist with self-administration of medications for all participantsIdentify and respond to any likelihood or evidence of significant harm to participants or others; informing the line manager as soon as possible of any actions taken and or required.Participate in group facilitationTransport and support participants with external appointments.Organise a range of appropriate enjoyable social activities to ensure participants remain actively engagedYou will haveCertificate IV (or equivalent) in the application of AOD interventions and/or the four competencies required to work within the AOD SectorPrevious experience in a similar roleUnderstanding of trauma informed care in a residential settingFirst Aid CertificateA current VIC Drivers LicenceValid VIC Employee Working with Children CheckAbility to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in AustraliaWhat we offerNFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax-free) plus meals and entertainment benefitsFinancial, retail and lifestyle discounts and benefitsEmployee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling serviceAn inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team membersThe Salvation Army Social Mission embraces diversity and encourages applications from:Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Intersexpeople with a culturally or linguistically diverse background
