Job Purpose Undertaking engine room watches as required by Second Engineer. Undertaking repairs / maintenance... to machinery as required by Second Engineer. Job Responsibilities Health, Safety and Environment1. Maintain a current knowledge of all Safety matters relevant to its position.2. Responsible for safety devices of these machinery and must test them at least once a month and ensure that they are functional3. Maintains a monthly record of all grades of lube oils and chemicals and ensures safe and proper stowing of these items4. As a safety supervisor in engine room, checks all safety equipment, Fire extinguishers, hoses and hydrants in engine room.5. Initiate action to prevent any non-conformance occurring in the Safety Management system, business processes and project work.6. Produce records as required by the Safety Management system7. Contribute to the continual review and improvement of the Safety Management system8. Identify and record the non-conformance when problems do occur.Watch keeping engine room officer1. Responsible for maintenance of Auxiliary Engines, Power Plants, Compressors and purifiers. 2. Follows the routine maintenance schedule of these auxiliary machinery as per company’s plant maintenance schedule3. Takes soundings of all bunker tanks weekly and also on arrival and departure port. Should be through with all bunker lines and also ensure timely transfer of D.O to various service tanks.4. Carry out daily tasks according to defined procedures5. Recommend, initiate or provide solutions through MSI6. Carries out any other duties assigned by the superior7. Prepares and maintains all relevant logbooks during his watch.
