Both APAL’s domestic industry and global business interests are relevant to this role.The Lawyer We Seek We are seeking a smart, ambitious and commercially astute senior lawyer to take on a wide ranging local and global commercial role and contribute to the business both legally and commercially. Reporting into a Head of Legal who is partially moving into a non-legal business role, the role will suit a senior lawyer ready to step up and take on more responsibility and autonomy and will provide a pathway to a leadership role over time.The Role on Offer The work on offer includes broad commercial matters, such as contracts, joint ventures and regulatory, as well as brand protection work, including annual licensing, trademarks, and trademark breaches. An autonomous position, it has the back-up and support of a Head of Legal but will take on the day to day running of legal matters for the business and will work closely with senior executives in the business. While the role is fundamentally an in-house legal role, there is a great opportunity for this lawyer to participate in more strategic and operational elements of the business, including management of part of our global commercial interests, such as taking on responsibility for a particular market. It has a flat structure, access to senior leadership, and opportunities for advancement within this growing organisation and business.About You 5+ years of proven commercial law experience and an understanding of FMCG with an international presence.Sound knowledge of commercial law, and experience with IP and trademarks.Broad experience across a wide range of disciplines such as contract negotiation, licensing, trademark management and defence, database management, data analytics, IT systems, property, insurance, human resources and corporate governance.Strong organisational skills and highly adaptable to an ever-changing environment.A natural brand ambassador of APAL and its values.A strategic thinker who can manage multiple projects and manage competing priorities and interests.Strong business and financial acumen and someone who shows initiative, collaborates and works autonomously when needed.Self-motivated, positive, well organised, adaptable and with a high sense of responsibility
