Position Summary:
This incumbent reports to Manager of Systems Support and is primarily responsible for desktop support. This includes assisting in the maintenance of Windows and other network computers in various UGA Libraries’ locations, including both staff and public workstations, as well as assisting and aiding in planning for any new installations or enhancements to existing workstations. The person in this position will identify technical problems, including network, software and/or hardware malfunctions, and resolve them directly or refer them to the appropriate personnel. Daily functions include workstation troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and software installations and configurations. This position is also responsible for supporting and documenting the Library’s implementation of Microsoft One Drive, Teams, and SharePoint.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
• Knowledge of computer software and hardware.
• Familiarity with Windows client/server environment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and faculty.
• Knowledge of web development and the Drupal/WordPress content management systems.

Responds to questions and requests from Libraries’ staff about network and workstation problems by providing one on one, e-mail, and/or phone assistance. This includes accurate documentation of workflows throughout the resolution process.

Hardware: Maintains Library public and staff workstations and peripheral equipment by installing and upgrading computer hardware, operating systems, and related equipment and documentation of those systems installations and upgrades.
Software: Ensures local workstation functionality by performing troubleshooting and making or arranging for resolution of application software and operating system problems on public and staff workstations including Microsoft One Drive, Teams, and SharePoint.
