Position SummaryThe Circulation & Reserves Manager is responsible to the Assistant Head of Access Services for planning and organizing the workflow of the Circulation and Reserve Unit of the Main Library which includes the Circulation desk, course reserves, and document delivery services; for interpreting library policy and determining the procedures to be used for issues related to circulation, document delivery, and reserves.
The Circulation & Reserves Unit is comprised of an additional 3 full-time employee and approximately 15 student workers.
The Circulation & Reserves Manager hires, trains, directly supervises, and evaluates 2 full-time employees who provide quality service at the Circulation desk and assist with processing course reserves and document delivery requests.
Work is performed independently on the basis of a general assignment of responsibilities, and follows through the full continuity of the job to the final results.
Night and weekend work is involved.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Understanding of the value of diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the workplace and particularly in regard to the delivery of information resources.
• Knowledge of academic library circulation practices and standards.
• Demonstrated successful supervisory experience, preferably in an environment providing public service.
