This position will have the option to telework; the employee will be required to complete a telework agreement. This position exists to assist the Multi-Modal Cartography Unit in the collection, processing, and dissemination of Geographic Information and Mapping Section's multi-modal products so maps will be updated in a timely manner to accurately reflect the current modes status. The position will assist the lead worker with GIS technical mapping support for the unit's mapping products. The position has diverse responsibilities, emphasizing multi-modal transportation planning, data collection, analysis, and data maintenance from a cartographic viewpoint. The position is also responsible for updating and monitoring changes to the Minnesota Trunk Highway System through MnDOT's Route Numbering and Control Section Committee by providing technical research, analysis, and mapping support. Minimum Qualifications Two years of professional GIS experience demonstrating: Experience writing technical documents and reports sufficient to properly document how data should be collected, stored, and utilized. Experience using GIS applications sufficient to develop, analyze, and manage geospatial data. Experience assisting and/or training others in the use of GIS and other database applications/systems. Experience with cartographic principles and techniques, including map projections and grid coordinate systems. Experience interpreting and transcribing map information from various sources (ex. road plans, legal land descriptions, route descriptions, aerial photographs, USGS quadrangle maps). Experience using web mapping applications. A Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Engineering, Planning or Computer Science substitutes for one year of professional experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro. Knowledge of MnDOT's and other government agencies activities as source of information for GIS and cartographic products and services. Working knowledge of the Route Numbering and Control Section Committee's procedures, functions, process protocols, roles, and responsibilities (Minnesota statutes, federal and state agencies rules and regulations). Experience with Adobe Illustrator.
