Introduction

Respected South African consulting engineering company is seeking a Resident Engineer (Technical Director) for an 18-month dam rehabilitation contract in Zimbabwe.

Candidates MUST have experience in dam building, rehabilitation, embankments and hydro dams.

Duties & Responsibilities

Resident Civil Engineer/Technical Manager role related:
• Lead the Site Technical Office including a Quantity Surveyor and his assistant, a Geotechnical Engineer, a Blasting Engineer, a hydro-mechanical engineer, a Quality Control Officer, 3D CAD Draftsman and any additional technical staff.
• On site senior support for structural civil works (design changes and construction issues) for structures,
• Attendance at weekly technical meetings
• Ensure compliance with Technical Specifications and Drawings,
• Responsible for the technical coordination and liaise with the Designer in the Head Office and the Experts in mission.
• Approve the drawings and technical documentation Issued for... Construction
• Responsible for the review and approval of the Contractor's Work Method Statements.
• Instruct the Contractor about technical aspects of the work on site as necessary and appropriate.
• Responsible technically for approving or not variations or changes connected with design and permanent Works alteration.
• Prepare the reply/reviews for the Technical Request of Information and Technical Submissions from the Contractor.
• Maintain the documentation related to the Technical Request of Information from the Contractor.
• Responsible for the verification on site of the permanent material installed.

General:
• Comply with all project related country specific policies and procedures applied on the project, in fulfilling the requirements,
• Liaise with the Chief Resident Engineer(s),
• Any other duties as may be instructed from time to time. Duties may also be adjusted to reflect changing requirements of the project as it progresses.

Desired Experience & Qualification
• BSc or BTech degree in Civil Engineering
• 15 - 25 years experience
• Professionally Registered
