The Opportunity:

We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and target driven Associate Director specialising in Civil Engineering to join our successful, dynamic and forward thinking North West office. The role will involve working within the national civil and structural engineering team to help deliver a wide variety of exciting projects in the infrastructure, residential, commercial, industrial and renewable energy sectors. In addition, this exciting role includes the opportunity to work closely with the regional and national leads to establish a new... team of Civil Engineers, manage the team and drive the development of new clients, commissions and the organic growth of the team.

Wardell Armstrong have an exceptional reputation within the industry and consequently have a strong, established workstream and openings in new and exciting markets. This role will include, but is not limited to highways design, drainage and flood risk assessments, earthworks and 3D modelling, and technical report preparation throughout planning and construction.

We envisage the role to include:

· Day to day management of the Civil Engineering Team, including coordination of team workloads, budget management and mentoring;

· Taking the lead on business development planning for the team;

· Client liaison and management;

· Developing opportunities with other teams in the office and across Wardell Armstrong with complementary specialist skills including structural, geotechnical and health and safety;

· Develop business with our existing clients and identifying potential new clients;

· Project management of multi-disciplinary projects;

· Providing updates to the group manager.

We are very keen to hear from candidates who have the following qualities and experience:
• Minimum of 10 years relevant post-graduate experience;

· A degree in Civil Engineering;

· A broad range of civil engineering experience, with particular experience in flood risk and drainage design being desirable.

· Experience in the use of MicroDrainage, Flow or other drainage design software;

· Working knowledge of design codes and standards (eg DMRB, BS/Eurocodes etc);

· High standard of written English and proficient with the use of Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word;

· Experienced in the production of infrastructure design packages & drawings, specifically highway and/or drainage design;

· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and sketches;

· Good understanding of design procedures, change control, checking and review;

· Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and collaborative design team environment.

· Knowledge and/or experience of working within a BIM environment and Civil 3D is desirable
• Demonstrable track record in business development and building client relationships;
• Experience of leading a team, including staff development and mentoring;

· Highway design expertise to UK national standards such as DMRB, MCHW and Manual for Streets;
• Self-motivated with a proven ability to communicate appropriately and effectively to all parties;
• Experienced and effective project manager;
• A full UK driving licence.
