ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Ministry of Citizenship as a Citizenship Quality Assurance Manager.
Reporting to the Director of Citizenship, the primary objective of the role is to assist in providing independent, objective assurance that risk management, governance, and internal controls and processes are operating effectively and efficiently in the MNBC Registry.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with management to identify, evaluate and document Registry risks, internal controls which mitigate those risks and related opportunities for internal control improvement.Perform internal compliance duties including process reviews and internal control reviews.Introduce and explain the purpose and benefits of internal audit to MNBC ministry and department staff, and other stakeholders.Check the accuracy of registry reports.Objectively assess registry processes in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.Assess data collection and information sharing risks and the effectiveness of its risk management efforts.Ensure that the Registry is in compliance with relevant legislations and regulations, and funding agreements.Gather and analyze data and information and prepare comprehensive auditreports to support conclusions and communicate results to management.Ensure department staff are in compliance with internal policies and procedures.Work with department staff to answer questions and problem solve to rectify identified shortfalls in internal controls and processes.Interpret and provide advice on the implementation of Registry policies and procedures.Be proactive in identifying ways that the Registry can improve as a department in serving Métis citizens in British Columbia.Participate in special projects within the Registry.Additional duties and projects as assigned
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Degree or diploma or working towards one in the field of Business Administration or Quality Assurance.Minimum two (2) years of experience in a related field.Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in B.C.Combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered.Advanced spreadsheet and analytical skills.Advanced knowledge of relevantsoftware programs, including the ability to import/export data between programs.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writingAbility to lead, problem solve, and utilize team-building skills.Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectivelyProven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervisionProven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software required by the role

Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBCThere will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of the normal business hoursAbility to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record CheckValid BC Class 5 Driver’s license and access to reliable personal vehicle for work purposes
