Senior Design Engineer to work in the Temporary Works department of a successful contractor. Good practical knowledge with Design skills in structural materials, Reinforced concrete, Steelwork, Timber using Eurocodes and British Standards as relevant. Geotechnical design skills are an advantage as is the knowledge of working with temporary works materials in formwork, falsework, and shoring. You will be an experienced Civil Engineer from a Design or Contracting background with a proven track record in the Design of cost-effective Temporary Works Schemes and Associated Calculations. Experience in Piling, Propping, Retaining wall design, Geotechnical works, above ground Façade retention, Cut & Carve and Top-down construction. Senior Design Engineer with a good all-round background in structural design:-BSc/ BEng /HND qualified Civil... Engineer.
• Knowledge of BS 5975, British and European design Standards
• Ability to design in Steel, RC, Masonry and Timber.
• Previous temporary works design experience in formworks, falseworks, scaffolding, foundations, and ground supports.
• Ability to produce conceptual designs, design risk assessments and detailed calculations and drawings of structural elements.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in temporary works.
• Coordination of design work with a range of in-house and external suppliers and designers.
• Proficient in Auto-cad. Experience in Tekla, Tedds, Wallap, Revit or similar.
• Numerate with good IT and communication skills.
• Experience in working in a Design Office.
• Capable of meeting deadlines. Your role will involve:
• Managing and designing projects.
• Supervising graduate engineers on all types of temporary works projects.
• Attending client meetings.
• Demonstrating temporary works procedures as part of in-house training schemes.
• Design and detailing of all temporary works, supervision of installation and erection. Exposure to temporary works in any of these areas of formwork & falsework design, checking & advising on suitable materials, steel sheet pile cofferdams, military trestling, heavy timbering, formwork and falsework to deep basements, abutments and bridge decks will all be relevant.
