Purpose of the role The purpose of this role is provide full design information including all required documentation for CE/UKCA compliance for all existing and new products to the business in accordance with the engineering plan, the business strategy and existing sales targets. The role will provide support when requested within the existing engineering team and other teams whenever design-related help or information is required and provide mentoring support to the Electro Mechanical Draughtsman Key Areas of Responsibility Produce electro-mechanical 3D models and technical drawings for products under the guidance of the product manager. Produce 2D engineering drawings and BOMS from 3D Models Generate and maintain all design related documentation. This includes generating design files and logging all relevant calculations, as well as compiling all documentation required for UKCA/CE approval Provide complete design and information packs including electronic design to assist... procurement, production and SSG Maintain existing design related documentation within the engineering system Arrange and take the lead in design concept and scope meetings where necessary to establish design parameters Provide support to the management of ECR/ECN’s process under the guidance of the Product Manager Develop and incorporate new A- designs into the existing product range under the guidance of the Product Manager Take a leading role in identifying and suggesting improvements with existing product designs and seeking agreement from the Product Manager. Key Requirements A minimum of 8 years’ experience of a design office/engineering environment. To have completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship as a minimum. The ability to use Solidworks CAD package is essential. Good knowledge of machining operations, materials, finishing processes and fabrication. Possess an appreciation of electrical/electronic products. Some experience of design of high accuracy mechanical devices and components would be useful. Appreciation of tolerances for application requirements and economic manufacture. Skills The ability to use Solidworks 3D package to an expert level is essential. Knowledge of BS8888 to produce engineering drawings is essential. Knowledge of mechanical design and engineering calculations. Ability to use AutoCAD / DraftSite would be beneficial. Good practical workshop skills. Good project and time management skills Knowledge of pressure vessels and design codes, and CE approval documentation would be helpful
