About Our Client

Our client, Sussan Group, is currently seeking an innovative and experienced Retail Head of Learning & Development to lead this key area across Sussan Group's three key brands; Sussan, Sportsgirl & Suzanne Grae. This is an exciting role for anyone that has a passion for people combined with an ability and track-record developing best in class L&D programs, that will sustain Sussan Group at the forefront of Australia's retail industry into the future.

Job Description

As Group Head of Learning & Development, you will partner with People & Development, Head Office, and Retail teams, in the design and delivery of all leadership and development programs and frameworks for the entire Sussan Group. As part of the role, you will ensure all programs are on-brand, inclusive, customer focused and aligned to the Group's purpose... objectives and culture in order to build on the capability, skills and experience of all team members.

Working closely with the Group People & Community Partnership Manager, you will collaborate with senior leaders across the Group to identify training needs and design or source programs as required in line with a seasonal training calendar. You will lead commercial aspects of the department, including budgets and verify the effectiveness of learning initiatives via use of relevant data and metrics to demonstrate increased overall capability within the business, keeping up to date with the latest developments in learning and development and recommending new approaches as appropriate.

The role actively supports the Retail Operations with conferences and workshops as required and manages the Insights program as an accredited Insights Practitioner/or with our Insights partner ensuring the program is managed, implemented, and compliant as per business requirements.

Importantly, the role also involves active support of the Group Diversity & Inclusion roadmap by inspiring, motivating, leading, and assisting all team members to implement and deliver against the D&I roadmap and Reconciliation Action Plan as required. You can play a big part in helping to drive and embed a culture of inclusion into one of Australia's leading retail organisations.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for people development and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.

A collaborative leader who is able to plan, organise and execute well with excellent communication and interpersonal skills is a must. You will be proactive, engaging and inclusive with a positive approach, high levels of initiative, and the ability to provide creative ideas. You will be experienced in scoping, designing, planning, promoting, implementing, and managing learning and development strategies and initiatives aligned to business needs.

To be considered for the role, you must have a tertiary qualification in Learning Design and Development or similar qualification and demonstrated experience in understanding, developing and applying adult learning principles and methodologies. You should also have in-depth experience leading a Learning & Development function within a Retail or similar business and familiarity with Learning Management Systems/Digital learning and SCORM.
