The Charge Nurse for the PAR Service will be the “face” of the Patient at Risk Service in Starship Children’s Hospital. They will be responsible together with the Lead SMO and the Patient at Risk Governance Group for setting standards for the early recognition and timely management of deteriorating patients in SCH through formal referrals, utilisation of the critical care outreach criteria and routine surveillance.
The Charge Nurse is responsible for managing the systems, processes and resources that enable staff of the PAR Team to meet the needs of the patient and their family in an efficient and effective manner. The Charge Nurse provides consultation, support, advice, training and education to relevant staff... while supporting the delivery of high quality specialist nursing across clinical areas for at risk patient groups.
The Patient at Risk (PAR) team is a nurse-led team focused on the management of children at risk of deterioration throughout Starship Hospital. The team ensures children at risk of deterioration receive the right care at the right time and are cared for in the right place depending on their changing acuity. They foster effective working partnerships with primary medical and nursing ward teams in the timely management of deteriorating patients.
