Position: Social Worker (MSW) Mental Health & Addictions – Part Time
Sault Area Hospital is currently recruiting for a Social Worker (MSW) to join their team at the Sexual Assault Care Centre within the Mental Health and Addictions Department. The successful candidate will provide trauma-based therapy to children, adolescents, adults and their families, who have been impacted by sexual abuse.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide ongoing trauma therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and their families who have experienced sexual assault or abuse.

Conduct trauma-informed psychosocial assessments and provide trauma-specific therapy

Engage clients in co-constructing therapeutic goals.

Co-construct with client therapeutic goals and treatment plans

Facilitate and innovate therapy practice(s) to assist in resolving issues related to sexual victimization and complex trauma (e.g. group therapy, workshops)
Provide support to victims of sexual abuse and assault through advocacy work... Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team, in team meetings, peer consultation and peer supervision, program and committee work, and ad hoc program initiatives

Develop linkages with relevant hospital departments and community agencies to ensure an integrated service response for children and adults who have been sexually assault or abused

Provide public education, outreach and consultation to professionals or groups regarding sexual abuse and assault, and of the services available through the Sexual Assault Care Centre Maintain accurate client records and statistical reports as required

Consult and collaborate with other key service providers

Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling and social programs

Other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters of Social Work Degree Registration in good standing with appropriate professional college or governing body

ASIST & CPI training

EXPERIENCE:

Three years’ experience in providing clinical therapy with demonstrated expertise in evidence-based, trauma informed individual and group therapies

SKILLS & ABILITY:

Advanced knowledge of evidenced based trauma therapies such as EMDR, IFS, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Trauma-Focused CBTExperience providing therapy to children and their families.

Knowledge of, and experience working from a client-centered, strengths-based therapeutic framework

Comprehensive understanding of trauma reactions in response to recent and historic sexual violence

Knowledge and understanding of the child welfare and legal systems as they pertain to sexual assault and sexual abuse

Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member, utilizing strong communication skills including the ability to relate well with others and adapt style as needed

Excellent written skills, including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages

Ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision, and use good judgment when working under pressure

Establish relationships with SAH, community partners and provincial partners

Maintain personal self-care practices to promote wellness and mitigate compassion fatigue
