Purpose of the position

The General Ledger Accountant reports to the Head of Accounting and Treasury and is part of the General Accounting team. The team focuses on closing the IFRS and Belgian GAAP accounts in order to provide adequate reporting to management and stakeholders. We are a team of 7, diverse both in terms of seniority and cultural background and we work on agile environment. Assigned activities that can vary over time between the team members.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

1) General Ledger Accounting - Monthly closing activities
• Perform... assigned account reconciliations and month-end posting
• Perform activities related to monthly close cycles. The assigned activities can include:
• Intragroup clearing and reconciliation (WIP)
• Asset accounting
• Maintenance accounting
• Inventories accounting and audit
• Loyalty accounting and valuation
• Overhead provisions and expense recognition
• IFRS accounting
• Bank statement booking and reconciliation

Part of the reporting in the Lufthansa Group tool
Part of or lead of special general ledger accounting projects in order to deal with new company activities or efficiency projects in function of time available and maturity in the role.
Point of contact with external auditors for the assigned areas of responsibility

Your profile
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
• Experience of working in a complex accounting environment (SAP or similar, multi-currency, …)
• Facts and figures minded
• Excellent verbal and written skills, ideally in English. French and Dutch are a plus
• SAP experience
