Assistant Barristers’ Clerk

2 Selborne seeks a highly motivatedAssistant Clerkto join our Chambers.

2 Selborne is a set of Barristers Chambers located on the 2nd floor of the traditional home of the Bar; the Wentworth-Selborne Chambers building, in the heart of the Sydney CBD, 2 minutes’ walk from Martin Place and St James train stations.

This is a long-term, permanent opportunity for an applicant aspiring to a career as a Barristers’ Clerk. We are looking for a self-starter with an interest in marketing who is keen to work with us and our business development manager to raise the visibility of 2... Selborne while maintaining the smooth running of the floor.

The Clerk reports to the Floor’s Board. Responsibilities include, the day to day running of Chambers, managing permanent or casual support staff, responding to enquiries from solicitors, clients and judicial staff, maintaining diaries and providing general logistical assistance for barristers in or out of court, liaising with external service providers, such as bookkeepers, accountants and function venues for Chambers events, managing the Floor administration and accounts and generally promoting the Chambers and its barristers.

To be successful in this role you will:

· Be self-motivated with a positive and imaginative ‘can do’ attitude,
· Have strong written and verbal communication skills,
· Have a strong sense of work and social ethics,
· Have disciplined organisational and time management skills,
· Be able to work effectively with staff under your close supervision,
· Have a high level of computer literacy,
· Have an adept knowledge of MYOB Accounting, or similar accounting software, and
· Ideally, also have previous experience using WordPress.

This is not a legal role. However, it is a key front of house role.

Working hours are generally8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility, and leave to be taken in the Court vacation and Chambers’ closure period from late December to mid-January each year. Anattractive remuneration packagewill be offered to the right candidate.
