Maybe you’re a freelance journalist or an assistant researcher, maybe you’re a junior project manager with a passion for journalism, or perhaps you've launched your own Substack or make documentaries. This is a great opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is organised, interested in writing and editing, and curious about culture and society. Open and engaged, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from our global team of analysts and editors and develop into a confident editor. Along the way, you’ll help produce written content that inspires clients including Nike, Headspace, Google, Airbnb, Ogilvy, and Netflix.

About the RoleAssisting across all aspects of the editorial team, you’ll liaise with sub-editors, manage uploads, and help with invoicing. You’ll work alongside a senior editorial lead in APAC to deliver diverse research across Canvas8’s 15 sectors and support the delivery of APAC coverage across nine markets. With no two days exactly the same, you’ll have the opportunity to edit, write, build briefs, and support with writer commissions.

This is an opportunity to develop editing and commissioning experience within an exciting new team. If you have an eye for a great story and love discovering new voices, this is an opportunity to build relationships with writers and contribute your own ideas as well. Every week, you’ll have the opportunity to research and write about topics that interest you – from exploring TikTok icons to digging into why a new retail concept has proved successful.

Audience-aware

You will have a minimum of one year of experience in a related environment – journalism, editing, documentary making, copywriting – researching and creating content that meets the audience's needs.

A curious worldview

Ingrained in culture, the role will be an extension of your everyday habits. Reading newsletters about technology, catching up with the latest TV series, or diving deep on Reddit are all part of your day-to-day.

Requirements

• A minimum of one year of experience in an editing, researching, writing, or project management role
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Exceptional standard of written English
• Highly organised and a confident planner
• Culturally aware, comfortable discussing ideas and thinking laterally
• Project management experience, working alongside a team to deliver to tight deadlines is preferable
