The Revelstoke Visitor Information Centre is seeking enthusiastic, motivated, outgoing individuals to join our awesome team for summer 2023. Our Visitor Information Counsellors are ambassadors for Tourism in our community, sharing the remarkable experiences Revelstoke has to offer with visitors from around the world.

We are currently offering full-time seasonal position beginning end of May - September, with the potential opportunity for winter hours.

Who you are

- You know and love Revelstoke and are eager to learn more.

- You have a passion for exploring the outdoors and have some knowledge of surrounding
National and Provincial Parks, local attractions and events, tourism products and services.

- You are enthusiastic to work both at the Visitor Information Centre and potentially at our roaming locations in the Revelstoke area.

- You thrive... on helping people and are eager to ensure they have a remarkable Revelstoke experience.

- You have excellent communication skills - face-to-face, telephone and written.

- You are organized, resourceful and dependable.

- You are comfortable in a busy environment.

- You are a positive team player who is also able to work independently.

- You have a Class 5 Drivers license with clean driver’s abstract and would be comfortable driving the REVELSTOKE. van (highly desirable but not essential).

- You are available to work evenings (to 7PM), weekends and holidays as required by and agreed with the Visitor Centre Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Connect with visitors in person and via email, phone and online channels, to understand their needs and provide them with tailored, accurate information.

- Encourage visitors to experience tourism products in our community

- Develop and maintain knowledge of local and regional attractions, products, events, businesses and services, beginning with our full training program.

- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors.

- Encourage new, extended and return visits.

- Gather statistical information related to each visitor party.

- Stock and sell retail merchandise, handle cash transactions and till reconciliation.

- Work with industry partners.

- Perform other administrative tasks and complete projects at the direction of the Visitor Centre
Manager.

- Perform light cleaning of surfaces and sanitizing of the Visitor Centre washrooms.

Canada Summer Jobs Program

The majority of our roles are funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. It is an advantage, but not mandatory, for applicants to qualify for the program criteria listed below:

· Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.

· Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person upon whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

· Be willing to commit to the full employment duration as agreed upon with the Visitor Centre

Salary: $18.00-$19.51 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
The Revelstoke Chamber of commerce and Visitor Centre does have a Communicable Disease Prevention Plan in place which employees learn about while in training.
