Role Mandate:
Develops technical label copy for corporate brand products, provides information to the business on regulatory... matters and leads compliance issues pertaining to labeling and advertising.
Accountabilities:
Develops technical label copy, evaluates packaging, product formulations and claims documentation to ensure the compliant labeling of products against the appropriate regulations, guidelines, internal labeling standards & policies. Reviews and approves artwork.
Supports in the reviews of preliminary formulations/concepts to help provide direction and strategy for new and existing products. Help identify new product opportunities from a regulatory perspective.
Reviews advertising to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations and internal policies.
Resolves regulatory issues raised internally, or by government agencies. Initiate corrective action as required.
Remain current on all corporate brands labeling standards & policies. Attends knowledge/training seminars as required.
Supports Regulatory Senior Management to review new or proposed legislation and provides perspective on the corporate position and impact to the business. Assists with the development of internal labeling standards, policies and guidance documents.
Provides regulatory updates and impact to products and labeling to Business Units (BU). Provides compliance support to BU as needed.
Mentor new RA members by providing guidance and necessary training to help support their successful start in LBL. Continue to mentor Regulatory Affairs Specialists as necessary. Educate other functions in BU on Regulatory Affairs.
Job Qualifications
University education or equivalent in food science and nutrition and/or chemistry
Minimum 5 years’ experience with consumer products labeling
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Food & Drugs Act and Regulations and other consumer packaging regulations
Outstanding colleague with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy

On-time delivery of goals and overall team results
Effective completion of special assignments as required
