Reporting directly to the Archivist of the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County, the Archives Assistant will undertake a digitization project related to local nineteenth century newspapers.

• Physical preparation of items to be scanned
• Photographing items and saving the digital images
• Processing the scanned images into PDF files
• Uploading files to the Internet Archive
• Assisting with general activities within the Community Archives such as helping researchers, arranging and describing new additions to the archives, preparing exhibits, newsletters and blog posts


Essential (Minimum) Qualifications:
• Must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary program in archival, library, museum, or information studies; or a student enrolled in another program who has taken a substantial course in archival studies
• Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
• Must work well in a team environment
• Must be proficient with computers and office software
• Must be a careful worker, with a thoughtful approach and attention to detail

The position is funded by YoungCanadaWorks in HeritageOrganizations. This position is contingent on receiving funding approvalfrom Young Canada Works.
