To provide experienced advice, guidance and information within this area to patients, health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and other non-professionals.

To clinically supervise and guide the professional work of less experienced physiotherapists, support staff and students as appropriate, while complying with professional and departmental standards of practice.

To be an integral member of the surgical and vascular Therapy Team, contributing to the management of the staff and service, with particular regard for all aspects of clinical governance, and to deputise for senior staff as required.

We have close working links with the Oncology Team developing a new Prehab service for our Surgical patients. We have regular MDT Teaching sessions for the Team which includes Medics and Specialist Nurses. Daily MDT Vascular rounds are attended by the Therapists.

We would expect applicants to have a previous experience as a physiotherapist on a surgical unit with some vascular... experience. You will need good clinical skills, a flexible approach; including excellent team working and communication skills , organizational and time management skills.

To provide a specialist physiotherapy service to surgical and vascular patients admitted to the inpatient wards

Undertake on call duties, including weekends and overnights.

To support the provision of service to vascular patients pre-op, in clinic and vascular class

To provide specialist physiotherapy assessments and treatments for surgical and vascular patients, often with diverse, complex or multiple pathologies and presentations.

To provide advanced assessment, treatment & discharge planning pre- and post-operatively, to minimise length of stay and optimise patient rehabilitation.

To provide high quality, evidence-based care to service users.

To work as an autonomous practitioner to formulate a diagnosis and management programme according to assessment findings, and to develop and maintain high standards of patient care.

To participate in weekday, weekend and public holiday service provision as required, working as an autonomous practitioner without supervision, and undertake the assessment and treatment of acutely unwell patients with surgical and vascular needs.

To be able to exert moderate to intense physical effort for frequent periods throughout the working day, e.g. asymmetrical postures during assessment of inpatients both before and after surgical or vascular intervention or surgery.

Provide effective input into the work of the Trust, to support the achievement of our vision and values.
