York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals offers an appointment for a full time Ophthalmology Specialist. This is a fixed term post for 9 months; the Candidate will be a senior non-consultant member of the Ophthalmology Service.

The post holder will be expected to manage general Ophthalmology and emergency patients and will be expected to deliver appropriate subspecialty care glaucoma and work autonomously.
• Glaucoma Clinics where the Candidate should be able to work independently and formulate treatment plans for Ophthalmology patients and list for surgery.
• Urgent Care Clinics
• Independent Laser clinics: retinal, YAG laser lists
• Potential for cataract surgery/minor ops is optional dependent on skill set and theatre availability

It is expected the appointee will be able to perform IVT, including, anti-VEGF and steroid injections and must also be able to supervise other non- medical staff and ophthalmology trainees.

The post holder will be expected to supervise trainees and... other junior staff and be part of teaching and training of medical and non- medical staff.

The appointee must be experienced in leading clinical audits.
