Position: OPS.GENERAL PRODUCTION.Operator.Toolmaker
Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible for planning, fabricating and manufacturing dies, patterns and gauges of extreme complexity.
Ensures to perform his tasks in order to meet customer requirements and Howmet’s quality procedures while keeping minimum inventory Analyzes machining requirements and determines analytical procedure.
Performs all set-ups of equipment and molds utilizing knowledge of machine shop practices and procedures.
Performs complex machining using horizontal lathes, vertical mills, and surface grinders.
Inspects dies for conformance to established specifications.
Sets up and sharpens drills, tool bits, and contour cutters.
Uses a variety of precision inspection equipment.
Plans the repair or modification of complex molds and repairs or modifies as required.
Repairs damaged dies, gauges and fixtures per requests from production.
Follows tool work order requests per engineering... instructions.
Manufactures fixtures and tools from rough sketches.
Maintains records, drawings or other paperwork as required.
Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
Performs precise machining operations on certain castings that cannot be machined by other departments.

Respects the Environment, Health & Safety programs of the company

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of both experience and training. Four years of experience with horizontal lathes, vertical mills, and surface grinders. Over five years experience required for satisfactory job proficiency.

Must be able to think logically to analyze situations.

Must be able to work quickly and accurately to meet schedules.

Must have an excellent working knowledge of machines, how to set-up and operate complex equipment, and an understanding of trigonometry, geometry, and general mathematics.

Must be able to read and work to machining and detail blueprints. Must understand brazing and silver solder techniques for tool repair.

Ability to use advanced math, and read and interpret extremely complex drawings and specification
