Primary Responsibilities
As ESG Director you will be responsible for driving... HDR's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program. Working closely with Corporate Departments you will map out and lead a strategy to drive the organization's management and development of the ESG program. This role combines elements of reporting (data collection process implementation, validation, and attestation), strategy, team collaboration, and engagement of working groups to deliver and report targets aligned with business goals.
Duties
• Work in conjunction with the ESG Steering Committee, the ESG Advisory Committee, and relevant corporate departments to develop an ESG strategy, including the development of goals and metrics.
• Establish a clear, prioritized annual ESG Plan to successfully integrate the ESG strategy within the company and execute ESG initiatives that work toward established goals. This should include changes in policies and/or processes, alignment with external benchmarks, and clear understanding of various rating organizations and agencies.
• Research and communicate global ESG legislation, regulations, trends, and developments to determine impacts and opportunities and translate them into actionable improvements across the Company’s enterprise.
• Manage ESG Reporting process, including coordinating data collection and delivering the annual ESG Report within the first quarter of each year.
• Work across the businesses to inform and educate and ensure that key stakeholders understand the role that they (or their teams) play in ESG.
• Develop and maintain an ESG dashboard to track and report progress against ESG goals and metrics.
• Provide regular updates on ESG to HDR leadership.
• Align HDR’s ESG program with HDR’s 5-year Strategic Plans (current plan is 2023 through 2027)
• Responsible to create, manage, maintain, and adapt the following deliverables.

• Update HDR’s Sustainability Policy and Procedures document
• Update HDR’s Materiality Assessment
• HDR’s Annual GHG Inventory
• HDR’s Annual ESG Report
Initiatives
• Act as the Corporate Sponsor for HDR’s ESG-related employee network
• Maintain HDR’s Environmental Policy and Sustainable Policies and Procedures document, and related standards, such as the Waste Prevention and Recycling Standards, in collaboration with the Sustainability & Resiliency Cross Sector Services Director
• Provide Rating Systems Evaluation & Certification Support for Fitwel and office-level ESG-related certifications.
Collaboration
• Collaborate with the Sustainability & Resiliency Cross Sector Services Director in areas that intersect between HDR’s corporate ESG plan and client services.
• Collaborate with the Enterprise Risk Director regarding ESG risks.
• Collaborate with HDR Legal team regarding global ESG regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Real Estate on the Workplace Planning Standards
• Collaborate with Procurement on sustainable procurement practice
• Collaborate with Corporate Travel on sustainable travel.
• Collaborate with the Corporate Development Team to align company initiatives.
Communications and Marketing
• Represent HDR in external organizations and at functions focused on ESG thought leadership
• Work with Corporate Communications to develop HDR messaging related to ESG, including internal and external communication
• Oversee the completion of client and third-party ESG surveys and questionnaires.
• Develop and maintain content for the intranet, with Corporate Marketing Services, and HDRInc.com, with Corporate Communications.

• The ability to influence and integrate HDR’s ESG program through the application of exceptional interpersonal, relationship building and collaboration skills.
• Pragmatic thinking about improving ESG practices.
• Skilled in developing cost/benefit analyses of the impact of corporate ESG decisions.
• Practical and innovative leader with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results. Ability to balance idealism with pragmatism.
• Working knowledge of broadly recognized reporting standards and frameworks, such as GRI and TCFD.
Location, Workplace, and Travel
• Located in a major North American city.
• Work and travel in a sustainable manner consistent with HDR’s sustainability goals and as a model for the company.
• It is anticipated that the place of work will be the HDR office located nearest to home.
• Travel to HDR headquarters in Omaha, NE, USA on the average one week per month.
• Other travel as necessary.
This Position Requires The Following Skills, Attributes And Experience
• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Sustainability, Planning, Architecture/Engineering or similar sustainability related degrees.
• Minimum of 15 years of Environmental, Social and Governance or related professional experience
• Experienced in development and management of ESG practices
• Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the markets.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with client managers, technical directors, business group directors and operations staff.
• Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
• Certification or professional licensing in and sustainability field (e.g., ENV SP, LEED, etc.) preferred, but not required.

The expected compensation range depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
The expected compensation range for this position in California is $188,958.00 - $319,020.00 annually.
The expected compensation range for this position in Colorado is $188,958.00 - $269,940.00 annually.
The expected compensation range for this position in Washington is $163,191.00 - $282,210.00 annually.
The expected compensation range for this position in New York is $214,725.00 - $306,750.00 annually
