To provide solutions, they work across various industries, including water, power, market investigations, transport, buildings, mining, industrial and rollingstock. They engage deeply with the physics of problems and apply various techniques to solve them. They exercise sound judgement and initiative while undertaking project responsibilities and design tasks. Fundamentally they must be a keen engineer within their domain who can perform testing and analysis and has worked in the data science realm within their working environment.The Data Scientist will work within the Data Science and Advanced Data Analytics team, where they will use scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. The role encompasses analysis, preparing data for analysis, and presenting findings to inform organisational decision making. Data Science projects will seek to investigate and optimise elements of a client’s business operations.A flexible approach to project delivery is required. Work may be performed across the wide range of markets that Jacobs services, including Transport, Water, Power and Health. The Data Scientist will work under the general guidance of the Technical Director and will interact with the other data scientists within Jacobs. They will also give guidance to the less senior members of the team.Here’s What You’ll Need:Effective communications. Develop front-end and back-end solutions for API and digitisation of current activities. Ability to research and assimilate relevant and emerging trends and techniques. Awareness of and ability to apply appropriate techniques, languages, frameworks, platforms, and visualisation applications applicable to the challenge being investigated.Data Science project inception, including: problem definition; requirements gathering and requirements validation.Exploratory Analytics including: historic data collection and management, data assessment and exploratory analytics, data preparation and transformation, domain specific analysis, and predictive model building and validation.Able to work collaboratively with other members of the Advanced Analysis and Test team as well as the wider Jacobs organisation across multiple disciplines, including mentoring of less experienced staff, providing inputs to tender bids and marketing to external and internal clients.Coordinate communicate and work with clients. As a member of the engineering team they are expected to present a professional image.Real world correlation testing, including: Setting test objectives and test planning; gathering real world data; data cleansing; model prediction; and trial validation.Jacobs.
