As the holder of this exciting new role, you'll be responsible for a vital part of the supply chain process. You will manage people, processes and systems in order to ensure goods are received and dispatched in an accurate, timely manner and ensure that productivity targets are met.

You'll also be responsible for and must maintain high standards of Warehouse health and safety as well as the security of the overall building and contents. You will manage a small but dedicated team in all aspects of their warehouse duties, delegating and monitoring the daily workload. You will lead by example, contribute to and champion our continuous improvement programme to help... streamline our processes.

This position will form an integral part of the Companies leadership team that will strive to develop the warehouse operation into a Group Centre of Excellence which will mould the future for others to follow.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

Liaise with customers, suppliers and transport companies

Coordinate and monitor the receipt and dispatch of goods whilst maintaining 5S standards.

Use space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met

Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these

Coordinate the use of automated and computerised systems where necessary

Respond to and deal with supplier communication by email and telephone

Keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate

Hands on in all aspects of warehouse duties – Picking, Packing, Goods In & FLT driving etc

Plan future capacity requirements regularly reviewing capacity to achieve / ensure that inventory is stored correctly.

Daily management of warehouse personnel and organisation of the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress, team development to ensure all staff are competent in roles (via staff rotation) and completion of annual staff performance reviews

Produce regular reports and statistics

Brief team stakeholders on a daily basis, both warehouse and office and weekly meeting with GM

Visit customers to monitor the quality of service they are receiving based on the SLA and T & C’s and ensuring that documents are completed and stored in a timely manner

Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment

Oversee the van routes, maintenance and security of vehicles along with internal equipment to ensure their safety and security

Achieve perpetual stocktake targets, disciplined stock management processes and maintain accurate inventory levels

Required Experience:

2 years’ experience within none food FMCG distribution warehouse

Staff Management and Development

Friendly & approachable personality, with a “One Team” approach to work

FIFO & Batch picking control

Must be able to prioritise and delegate workload to others along with staff development

An understanding of quality procedure & process and working closely with the QA department

Experience/Knowledge of Hardware or Construction products a distinct advantage

Full Driving License (maximum of 6 points) / FLT licence (FLT training provided if req’d)

Computer literate – Good understanding of Word and Excel
