Currently we operate 66 retail locations in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania . We cater to our customers' needs by supplying a wide variety of products in departments such as tools, hardware, automotive, pet, work and... casual clothing, footwear, farm supplies, horse and livestock feed, bird food, lawn and garden, and alternative heating.

The Area Manager must exemplify the company’s culture by consistently supporting and strengthening the basic philosophies of the company. Area Managers require strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and supervise a team of managers in an area where multiple stores operate. The Area Manager will be responsible for achieving sales and profit plans, implementing merchandising and operational plans as well as ensuring the execution of company strategies within their own store as well as their area stores. Area Managers are in charge of the operational practices of the stores in their area making sure they run smoothly and cleanly as well as meet budget and sales goals in compliance with marketing campaigns and promotions. The Area Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, Include but are not limited to:
• Promote Family Farm and Home mission statement and family values.
• Promote an aggressive sales culture with an intense focus on superior customer service.
• Ensure merchandising standards are achieved and executed per plan
• Assure operational execution and standards are achieved in receiving, cashiering, price changes, markdowns, policies and procedures,
• Identify deficiencies in execution and initiate immediate action to correct
• Review P & L statements and take action as needed to maximize profitability
• Ensure perpetual inventory accuracy
• Maintain awareness of each stores competition and work with office to take necessary action
• Clearly articulate the company’s vision and create an environment that encourages development, high morale, good communications, and inspires team members to do their best.
• Promote an environment of continuous improvement
• Recruit, hire, and train qualified managers to meet the Company’s growth needs
• Maintain awareness of any store personnel issues and assure appropriate actions are taken
• Approve all terminations and hiring and/or promotions to key carrier and management positions
• Evaluate, train, motivate, hire and fire management
• Represent the company and assure communities are supported in all markets
• Be the direct link of communication between the office and the stores as well as a voice for the customers
• Inspect premises of stores to ensure that physical facilities and lighting are maintained
• Assure adequate loss prevention measures are taken and the stores facilities comply with safety standards and local ordinances
• Participate in company planning and development of annual plans and long-range goals and objectives
• Immediately address any lapses in compliance with corporate policies or local, state and federal laws
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor or company official.

Area Manager Requirements:

A successful Area Manager must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills. Area Managers need to have good oral/written communication skills in order to effectively interact with customers, vendors and other associates. A successful Area Manager needs to understand aggressive customer service and be team-oriented. They will have good management and organizational skills. Additionally, it is necessary they understand and interpret data presented in statistical or numerical form and be able to use it effectively in assessing and coordinating the merchandise and operational aspects of the store operations. They need to be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Finally, they will be able to work a flexible schedule including travel and for longer than a normal workday. Valid driver’s license is required.
