Patient Transfer Officers play a vital role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and reliable transport service for Te Whatu Ora Health NZ, private hospitals, and other customers.
The Patient Transfer Service workload includes both planned and urgent transfers for hospitals as well as transport for residential care, palliative care, bariatric and air ambulance patients.
As a Patient Transfer Officer, you will be transporting patients between hospital facilities for higher care or... interventions not available at the first hospital facility. Hospitals provide the clinical escorts for patients requiring treatment or observing during the journey, so being able to work side by side with other health professionals is essential. Hato Hone St John provides services to 17 Te Whatu Ora Health NZ districts and is the largest provider of patient transfer services in New Zealand.

You will receive a St John uniform and we provide full comprehensive training to the successful applicants and at the end of the course you will have an ATP accreditation of First Responder level. We have fixed term full time rostered vacancy based out of the Gisborne station
Essential criteria:
• A full class '1' NZ drivers license, held for a minimum of 12 months with an excellent driving record
• ATP of First Responder (if internal to St John) if you will be a new member to St John then we will provide training
• Confident operating large vehicles
• High level of physical fitness is required
• Resilient and able to work with autonomy
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus
• A genuine commitment to the well-being and care of others
• The ability to work under pressure
• Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to get one prior to the commencement of training

We are looking for self-motivated and reliable team members. This is a busy and people-focused role that requires an adaptable and flexible attitude to work. The successful candidates will be working with many busy stakeholders, so excellent communication skills are a must. Please note, this is not a Health Shuttle driver role.
