Role: Activity Resort Manager
Location: Lets Go Hydro, Knockbracken Reservoir, 1 Mealough Road, Carryduff
Contract: 6-month Fixed Term, APRIL – SEPTEMBER, with a view to extend or make permanent, dependent on the success of the role and the activities
Hours of work: 40... hours per week, 5 days out of 7, including weekends
Reporting to: General Manager
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 pro-rata, depending on skills and experience
As Activity Resort Manager you will be responsible leading a team including Leisure Manager, Activity Supervisors, Head Lifeguards etc in the smooth running of our Aqua Park and other dry land leisure activities. As a commercially minded but customer focused individual, you will be responsible for keeping Let’s go Hydro ahead of the competition, creating and delivering new land based activities in order to achieve commercial return.
The resort is continuing to expand and your role will include creating, introducing and driving new activities and experiences for customers to enjoy, so we really need someone with initiative and a “get up and go” attitude!
Key Skills and Responsibilities:
• Manage the day-to-day operation of our busy aqua park and land activities (responsible for the Aqua Park (including puddle park, changing barn & wetsuit hire), water based activities (including stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, open water swimming), land-based activities (including group bookings, summer scheme and more).
• Set, monitor and control the rota, according to projected customer numbers and wage budget
• Correctly complete all operational paperwork on time
• Ability to create new exciting outdoor activities and events to introduce at the Resort; for individuals, group booking, summer scheme etc and to expand into the winter season.
• Recruitment, training, coaching and performance management of team members
• Create and oversee department training plan to ensure all team members are delivering services to the agreed standard
• Ensure proper communication between departments in matters relating to aqua park and activities
• Attend regular review meetings with senior management to ensure communications are regular and constructive
• Co-operate with the General Manager and assisting with anything from project planning to staff management
• Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Leisure Manager (Events & Groups) to co-ordinate activity plans and staffing
• Work with marketing & sales department to maximise sales opportunities across the activities on resort
• Stock control of all equipment and wetsuits at the resort
• Respond to all customer feedback in relation to complaints or queries
• Operate all aspects of aqua park and activities computer system, including software maintenance, report generation and analysis
• Develop, review, update and ensure implementation of all resort policies and procedures
• Ensure daily safety checklists and tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Ensure accurate cash handling procedures are in place and adhered to
• Ensure that employees are always attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers and other employees
• Maintain an organised and comprehensive filing system with documentation of purchases, vouchering, schedules, forecasts, reports and tracking logs.
• Department health and safety management including risk assessments, safe systems of work, staff training and monitoring
• Accident reporting and analysis to reduce and prevent future accidents
• Maintain an excellent standard of customer service across the resort
• Promote a culture of safety and compliance of the whole team and customers
· Additional hours will be expected to meet peak periods and for key events – max 48 hours per week
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities but will evolve and change depending on business needs.
Essential Criteria:
• Management experience in either a hotel, activity resort or similar hospitality background
• Ability to lead, motivate, train a team and maintain effective working relationships
• Creative, attention to detail and capable of delivering exciting new activities
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Email
• Commercially focused, with the ability to create and drive activities
• Experience managing summer camps or other youth group activities with a large team
• Implementing and maintaining systems and procedures
• Experience managing department H&S policies and procedures including risk assessments
• Customer Service experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment
• Approachable, friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming with strong leadership skills
• Self-motivated and responsible
• Flexible, punctual, organised and efficient
• First Aid certificate
• Flexible to work varied shifts, including day, evening and weekend shifts
• Excellent people skills, passionate and enjoy working outdoors
• Right to work in the UK documentation
Desirable Criteria:
• Activity resort experience (water park or similar outdoor activity resort)
• In-depth understanding of current Aqua Park industry, and all activities currently provided by Let’s Go Hydro
