The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Guarantees and Credit Market Products Departments at its headquarters in Luxembourg*, several Structured Finance Analyst(s) / Manager(s). This is a full time position (travel required) at grade 4/5 for which the EIF offers a permanent contract.
This is a generic campaign in the view of both current and possible future vacancies.
Panel interviews via video-conference are anticipated for March 2023.
Purpose:
EIF is the specialist provider of risk finance to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) across Europe.
EIF is a recognised leader in the securitisation market offering structured credit solutions to a diversified range of financial intermediaries in Europe and deploying funds coming from different sources for the EIB Group.
You will join the Front Office of the European Investment Fund and assume responsibilities for the full transaction cycle including origination, appraisal, analysis... structuring and execution of Portfolio Guarantee transactions or Securitisation transactions covering diversified portfolios of predominately loans to SMEs and Small Mid-Caps. Your work will relate to either the appraisal of securitisation transactions from origination to closing, or the deployment of central EU programmes such as InvestEU and guarantee facilities EIF manages in specific Member States and/or regions. The guarantee transactions will often be undertaken in the context of a promotional thematic approach supporting e.g. sustainability, innovation, digitalisation, social impact, etc.
Operating network:
You will report to the Head of the relevant Unit / Division within the Portfolio Guarantees or Credit Market Products Departments.
Responsibilities:
At a level commensurate with your experience and seniority, you will:
• As part of the structuring process, perform in-depth analysis of new portfolio guarantee or securitisation transactions covering qualitative and quantitative aspects, both in terms of credit risk assessment (incl. expected and unexpected loss, risk/return assessment as applicable) and in terms of policy objectives, value added and other relevant requirements;
• Coordinate relevant internal processes and ensure smooth cooperation with EIF services (legal, risk management, compliance etc.) in the context of new portfolio guarantee or securitisation transactions
• Draft transaction requests for approval & due diligence reports, aiming at signing guarantee commitments or securitisation transactions with existing and new counterparties, mainly with an EU focus;
• Contribute to the negotiation of guarantee or securitisation transactions (incl. legal documentation);
• Manage client relationships with financial institutions to ensure transactions meet agreed policy objectives and allow for timely follow-on transactions;
• Promote the guarantee facilities or securitisation operations, participate in internal/external events and prepare relevant promotional presentations and other materials as and when required;
• Contribute to product and mandate development in cooperation with other teams;
• Take part in business development through active follow-up of market developments in the SME financing area if/when needed and where appropriate represent the EIF in the wider structured finance community,
Qualifications:
• University degree, preferably at post-graduate level, in Finance, Business Administration or a related subject;
• At least three (3) years for the Analyst role and (5) years for the Manager role, of post-graduation (after having obtained your initial university diploma) relevant professional experience at the same level of responsibility, in a client facing structured finance or credit portfolio management in a commercial, promotional or investment bank, an International Financial Institution (IFI), rating agency, micro-finance institution or guarantee institution;
• For securitisation: prior experience in cash flow modelling and financial modelling, legal documentation work, rating agency interaction, is a pre-requisite;
• Good understanding of EIF’s mission and activities as well as its political and operating framework;
• Track record in portfolio credit risk analysis / modelling, preferably in the field of SME financing but also for similar asset classes, as well as a good understanding of the economic drivers of securitisation / structured finance transactions, preferably in the SME asset class, would be a significant advantage;
• Excellent knowledge of English both oral and written and good knowledge of French/German or other European languages would constitute a distinct advantage.

• Pro-active approach and sense of initiative;
• Good team spirit and ability to work in a multi-discipline team.
