This Nurse Unit Manager role will lead the Mental Health Hospital in the Home service and provide operational leadership, direction and management to a specialist multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals. This position will also participate in service provision and undertake home visits to contribute to the direct care of the consumers.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Unit Manager (Mental Health - Hospital in the Home) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will
• Work in collaboration with the HiTH Consultant Psychiatrist to provide evidence based best practice, clinical advice, direction and problem solving, clear goal setting the prioritising of clinical services for consumers and their carers
• Provide operational leadership, direction and management to a specialist... multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals
• Be responsible for the coordination and delivery of HITH clinical services, including referrals, intakes, assessments, home visits and treatment
• Ensure that face-to-face home visits are provided daily, or up to three times daily where clinically indicated, as part of the clinical and therapeutic care planning

About You

To be successful in this position you will require:
• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• AHPRA Registration
• Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses, or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental health nursing
• A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Driver Licence
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary
• Permanent full time
• Base salary ranging from $123 752 - $134 357 per annum

The Mental health Hospital in the Home (HiTH) is a service that offers contemporary recovery orientated care and forms part of the Acute Inpatient service model.

HiTH provides an alternative to an inpatient hospital admission, which allows MHSS to offer a more person-centred option to admission for mental health consumers within their home setting. HiTH acts as an alternative to inpatient hospital admission where the intensity and type of care provided in an admitted service is offered but allows for greater flexibility to meet the patient's preferences and facilitates maintenance of supports and links within the community.
