Established in 1998 under Yayasan UEM (UEM Foundation), Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) is a premier residential college specializing in pre-university education. KYUEM is one of the selected colleges in Malaysia granted the Cambridge International Fellowship status, giving us preferential access to their varied support systems. The College specializes in the Cambridge International A-Level examinations with a focus on the main A-Level subjects. Responsibilities
• To provide confidential health advice to individual students.
• To be on standby/On-Call mode according to Call duty schedule.
• To assess students who arrive in the sickbay and arrange a doctor's appointment or, if appropriate, administer medication if required or send them to their lessons if they are believed to be well enough. If a student is judged by key members of staff to be too ill to come into the Health Centre, they will report this to the Matron who may need to visit the student in room and make an assessment.
• To manage and isolate students appropriately who may have an infectious disease.
• To manage the Health Centre at Varsity House including making the beds, keeping the room hygienic and comfortable, ensuring there is adequate supervision of students.
• Keeping account of stock and reordering as required within the approved budget.
• To communicate with teachers regarding the welfare of students, but recognize the importance of confidentiality and reporting appropriately in line with college policy.
• To contact, in consultation with the Head of Student Services, the Principal, Houseparents’ and their parents or guardians to secure information relating to a student's health and to comply with any requirements issued by relevant Authorities.
• To maintain communication with the external doctor and other agencies in order to promote and maintain students' health and welfare.
• To prepare maintain the college’s in-house Management Information System (MIS), of any matters related to the health and welfare of any students.
• To monitor all students' medication Over-The-Counter (OTC) as prescribed by the Matron or brought from home and to carry out any necessary Risk Assessments on the medication. Parents may be contacted by the Matron to confirm the correct dosage and storage instructions.
• To monitor the safe storage of all medicines, to comply with statutory requirements and the College Policy.
• To report students with contagious diseases to the local public health authorities for the purpose of minimizing infection and complying with legal requirements.
• To respond to medical emergency situations.
• To co-ordinate first aid training across staff members and including training in homely remedies for boarding staff.
• To attend and contribute to College-wide professional training in terms of health and safety.
• To attend welfare and other meetings as required.
• To be an active part of the programme and develop education health programme, including an understanding of current practices and trends relating to college health & safety.
• To arrange meetings/case conferences with other members of staff to discuss concerns raised about students.
• To arrange any events/activities which promote health & safety.
• To provide advice for staff on the management and control of infectious diseases.
• To accompany students for any events held externally whenever necessary.
• To monitor students’ health and safety during weekends whenever necessary.
• To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management.

Requirements
• Proven work experience as a registered nurse.
• Good knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of emergency care.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times.
• A team player with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Responsible and compassionate.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Patient with exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree or other diploma from a nursing program.
• Valid nursing license.
