Procurement Support Administrator United Kingdom

Huntingdonshire District Council

Huntingdonshire District Council United Kingdom United Kingdom

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we need to employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our Procurement Team on a part time, permanent basis to support us with general procurement contract administration, monitoring various systems and dealing with internal and external customers and to provide professional support to help us achieve our ambitious goals.

You will mainly focus on administrative tasks which will involve assisting and gathering information to assist the Procurement Lead to... run a strategic procurement function.

You will assist in communicating with suppliers' clarifications and questions in a professional and prompt manner, monitoring the online tendering portal and general emails, signposting and advising customers of the correct procurement route to market, maintaining accurate contract records and proactively engaging with the council's various departments.

You will support the Procurement Lead with the preparation of tender and contract documents and uploading information and contracts onto the council's Finance System and contracts' register.

We know our people are what make HDC great and recognise how important a healthy work–life balance is. Our hybrid work model enables employees to work remotely whilst allowing for in-office collaboration opportunities across the district. We are also able to offer flexibility in how the hours are worked to support the team.

This is a chance to really make an impact; ensuring the council is compliant in all procurement activities.

About you

An excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, you will be experienced in using Microsoft Office/Teams. Self-motivated and proactive, you will have previous administrative experience and be able to manage your own workload with minimal supervision to meet multiple deadlines and requests.

A good general knowledge surrounding the concepts and principles of procurement would be helpful, but we are committed to finding the right person and an experienced administrator with an interest in Public Procurement would thrive in this role.

Striking the balance between assisting in a compliant procurement process whilst maintaining flexibility to meet stakeholder needs, you'll be known for your reliability, attention to detail and organisation, alongside a collaborative and proactive approach.
