ARTS PSYCHOTHERAPIST - BAND 7

7.5 hours a week

Base: Community - Mill House, Uxbridge

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Arts Psychotherapist to join our Complex Emotional Needs Service in Hillingdon.

POST REQUIREMENTS

Qualified and registered Art Therapist.

Substantial experience in adult mental health, specifically in Community settings.

Evidence of Continued Professional Development since qualifying.

The post holders work load will:

Include assessment and treatment of people with complex emotional mental health needs. Individual and group work should draw on evidence based approaches.

The post holders will be required to plan, provide and develop an... art therapy service for people supported by the Complex Emotional Needs Service in the community. They will need to work closely with the Community Mental Health Hub's multidisciplinary team and wider psychology team. Strong links should also be developed with other adult mental health services where patients are referred to.

The arts therapy service will include systematic assessment, treatment and evaluation of group and individual work using art therapy. The post holder will also be required to manage and clinically supervise allocated staff, specifically arts therapies trainees, and regularly undertake arts therapies research/audit as part of the Trust Arts Therapies research strategy.

The post holder will be required to work autonomously and to manage a busy and complex caseload. Significant interest and experience of working with complex emotional needs (e.g. EUPD) presentations is required.

CNWL has a well-established Arts Therapies network with a large and diverse workforce providing art, dance-movement, drama and music therapies for adults with mental health needs across a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community services. The postholders will be linked to these services and will have access to CPD opportunities and clinical networks. Specialist clinical supervision is provided within the Trust.

1. To be individually accountable, without recourse to onsite guidance, for the planning and provision of Arts Psychotherapy for community clients across Hillingdon CEN.

1. To assess clients with respect to planning specialist treatment, taking into account complexity of presentation, patient need, risk factors and service priorities.

1. To contribute specialist knowledge from arts therapy assessment and treatment to the overall care plan for each client through written summaries, liaison with other professionals involved in the service user’s care and contribution to clinical meetings where appropriate.

1. To manage and clinically supervise arts psychotherapy trainees on placement.

1. To contribute to the Trust’s research strategy for the arts psychotherapies.

1. To be responsible for regular review of own service, in order to assess any necessary changes in clinical practice
