Our client, a specialist in Asia Pacific and Global Emerging Markets equity strategies, is looking to acquire an investment analyst to join their APAC team. They manage US$37 billion on behalf of clients globally. Operating as an autonomous investment team within a larger, global conglomerate, they are a team of dedicated investment professionals based in Hong Kong, Singapore and Edinburgh.

They pride themselves on being bottom-up investors, using fundamental research and analysis to construct high-conviction portfolios. They conduct more than a thousand direct company meetings a year, seeking to identify high quality companies that they can invest in for the long term.

As responsible, long-term shareholders, they engage extensively on environmental, labour and governance issues and are signatories to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment.

Their specialist investment teams set their own investment... philosophy and processes with expertise across a range of asset classes and specialist investment sectors. They manage investments on behalf of institutional investors, pension funds, wholesale distributors, investment platforms, financial advisers and their clients worldwide.

Their approach to investment is driven by a commitment to provide the best possible outcomes over the long term. To achieve this, they ensure their interests are aligned with their investors and uphold a culture of consistently acting in clients’ best interests.

Based in Hong Kong or Singapore but working closely with the Global Investment Team, the primary focus of this role is to maintain and improve depth of Equities research. Please refer to Key Responsibilities for further detail.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Analysis
• Produce company analysis reports of stocks.
• Conduct industry analysis and comparison of companies with global peers.
• Undertake regular company visits.
• Generate high-conviction stock ideas.
• Assist with portfolio construction (buy and sell recommendations)
• Maintain equity funds client presentations.
• Assist with semi-annual client letter write-ups and monthly portfolio performance summary

Responsibilities to the Global Investment Team
• Demonstrate commitment to the broader investment team
• Ensure strong communication of ideas to the wider FSSA Investment Managers team
• Ensure the team deals with all matters of investment team administration effectively

Required Capabilities
• University graduate with experience in the finance industry preferred
• A good understanding of the asset management business, with at least up to 10 years’ experience as a buy-side or sell-side research analyst.
• Fluent in spoken and written English. Other language capability is highly desirable.
• Can work well under pressure, is able to multi-task and prioritise - working to multiple deadlines
• Knowledgeable, adaptive and with good problem solving skills to be able to effectively deal with the varied requests made from different business units
• Sound interpersonal and client servicing skills with excellent analytical and problem solving skills to resolve/collate communication details and enhance cooperation amongst different parties
• A motivated team-player who is driven with a disciplined attention to detail
• Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office applications, and in particular, Bloomberg, Factset and power point
