We are currently looking to recruit a G5 Quality Officer to join our Forensic Quality Management team (QMT).
Forensic regulation is a high priority for the NCA. A forensics QMT is an essential part of the Quality Management System (QMS) established in order to achieve and maintain the standards of regulation and accreditation as mandated by the UK Forensic Science Regulator (FSR). This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding area of Forensics that provides assurance to the Criminal Justice System in respect of the forensic processes employed by the NCA.
We are seeking candidates who are:
Familiar in the administration and management of Quality Management Systems, ideally in ISO 17025 and/or ISO 17020. It is desirable if you have experience of these standards in relation to Forensic disciplines across a multi-site/ multi-discipline environment.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding area of Forensics that provides assurance to the Criminal Justice System in respect of the forensic processes employed by the NCA. There will opportunities to work across traditional and digital forensics disciplines in addition to providing support for newly introduced areas of scope.
The focus of the role is to be involved in the implementation and maintenance of Forensic quality standards across the NCA to ensure compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators (FSR) Codes of Practice and Conduct (CoP).
• All NCA officers must hold SC Enhanced upon entry as a minimum. To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. For more information please see the Candidate information Pack*

Main Responsibilities
Provide support for the implementation and maintenance of Forensic quality standards across the NCA to ensure compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators (FSR) Codes of Practice and Conduct (CoP).
Develop and maintain ISO 17020/17025 policy and procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose.
Carry out administration of the Quality Management System
Carry out audits against working practices within the Forensics Services Quality Management System.
Provide support and guidance to departmental and technical managers in:
The validation and verification of technical processes
Problem solving when technical issues arise
The introduction of new processes and encouraging continuous improvement
Record and monitor corrective actions or non-compliance identified; supporting any investigations and actions where necessary.
Support the version control and central archiving of policies and procedures.
Issue new and updated procedures across the Forensic landscape.
Report quality issues to management meetings where improvements will be discussed and agreed.
Maintaining a good level of knowledge and understanding of quality standards, training and competency.
Work closely with managers, supervisors and peers within the Forensic Services Department and other NCA Commands as appropriate.
Work collaboratively with external agencies and partners, as appropriate, to develop an understanding of the impact of Forensic compliance within UK Law Enforcement.

Comprehensive understanding of Quality Standards and the requirements needed in terms of ISO 17025, ISO 17020 and the Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice.
Proven ability support implementation of processes, under pressure and to deadlines.
Proven experience of performing a Quality Management function within a multisite/matrix management structure.
Proven experience in planning and conducting audits to ISO 9001, 17025, ISO 17020.
VETTING REQUIREMENTS SC
All security clearances require you to provide evidence of your UK footprint where you have been physically present in the UK.
The requirement for SC clearance is to have been present in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
Failure to meet the residency requirements will result in your security clearance application being rejected.
If you require SC clearance you will need to provide evidence of the below requirements.

Departmental or company records (personnel files, staff reports, sick leave reports and security records)
UK criminal records covering both spent and unspent criminal records.
Your credit and financial history with a credit reference agency
