About the role

The National Criminal Investigations Group (NCIG) at Police National Headquarters (PNHQ) is responsible for providing specialist covert technical surveillance capabilities to primarily support serious crime (homicides) and organised crime (drugs & gangs) investigations across all Police districts.

To enable and deliver Our Business and support the NZ Police vision to be the safest country, we are looking for a proactive Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our team in Wellington. Successful applicants will contribute to the high-quality delivery of services aligned to ‘Our Values’ and the Police High Performance Framework.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our highly innovative, motivated and skilled team. Working in an agile and dynamic environment, the work... primarily involves support of the deployment of covert surveillance devices to listen to, track or observe activity.

This role will give you a unique opportunity to work and develop in a key growth area and you will be exposed to technologies and concepts that few other organisations can offer.

Key Accountabilities:
• Broad range of knowledge and experience relating to computer hardware, software and network technologies.
• Build, maintain and administer TOG networks, equipment and applications.
• Support TOG Technical Operatives to deliver operational services.
• Demonstrates innovation and initiative including competency to identify and/or develop bespoke solutions to overcome challenges.
• Contributes to a healthy team environment and culture through the modelling of positive personal behaviours aligned with Our Business, Police core values, and the PHPF.

To be eligible for a Top Secret security clearance you must be a NZ citizen. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa. In rare circumstances, other candidates may be considered for security vetting.

Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 10 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
